The thought of having a healthy diet probably runs through your day multiple times a day. Most of us lead a life where we have unconsciously commited to an unhealthy pattern of eating and we're desperatly trying to claw our way out of it.

Why is it so important to eat food that are in the season? Well, they got twice as much flavour, that extra crunch and are high on vitamins, minerals and many other essential nutrients.

Local markets are in their best shape during summer, fruit and vegetables are abundant and as fresh as they can be. By consuming foods that are not in the season you run a risk of getting infected by all the chemicals preservatives they use to keep the fruits and vegetables during the year.

Melons 


Melons are one of the juiciest and healthiest foods out there. They can be used in salads, juices, smoothies and many others! They good for the stomach, they accelerate weight loss and help prevent many common health problems such as cancer, blood pressure, heart disease, and common colds and flues.

It might not be the most delicious vegetable but it's definitely one of the most effective ones when it comes to weight loss. Its rich in Vitamin A,C, magnesium, calcium and folate! This badass vegetable vegetable helps with high blood pressure, keeps the heart healthy and is considered an excellent blood purifier.

Salad leaves


Amaranth leaves, rocket leaves, basil and other summer herbs should be gathered in a salad  bowl and topped off with a yogurt dressing to make a great summer salad. They create a power house of nutrition and are a great way to lose weight. Bung in fruits, nuts, white meat, peppers, mint or coriander leaves to make a light and lovely meal.


Watermelon juice


 Watermelon is 90% water, so it's with no doubts the best way to keep yourself hydrated. It helps with digestion and keeps the stomach cool. "Eating watermelon can help protect skin from oxidative stress that contributes to the aging process, clear up acne and brighten a dull complexion" says Niharika. She recommends a glass of ice-cold watermelon juice daily.

Mint water with lemon


One glass of strained mint water with two drops of lemon works wonders. It acts as a liver cleanser, boosts your metabolism and helps those with a low appetite.
